About Lauren
After beginning violin at age 9, Lauren quickly fell in love with the instrument. From fourth through twelfth grade, she consistently participated in school orchestras, youth symphonies, honors ensembles, and routinely performed solos and chamber pieces with her private instructor.
Lauren began teaching private violin and clarinet lessons in 2008. Admiring one-on-one instruction and the ability to personalize lessons to fit her students’ individual learning styles, she continued to develop her violin, viola and fiddle teaching techniques in a private string studio. Lauren also has experience teaching music in public schools, instructing 4th and 5th grade woodwinds, brass, percussion, band, and orchestra.
Lauren earned her Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2012, and holds a Minnesota teaching license. She is certified in kindergarten through 12th grade band, orchestra, vocal, and classroom music. Since 2013, Lauren has been a member of the 43rd Army Band of the Nebraska National Guard where she performs regularly on fiddle and clarinet.
Lauren has completed Suzuki violin and viola teacher training units 1-3 through the Suzuki Association of Americas and looks forward to continuing through unit 10. She also has future aspirations to open a Suzuki music school in the area. The Suzuki method is based on Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s “mother-tongue” method. Similarly to how a child learns how to speak by hearing their native language, young performers learn best by hearing their music.
